Tour of Ireland, Clonmel to Killarney
Another beautiful day here in Ireland today. Clear skies and warm weather by Irish standards. We rolled out of the neutral section and before I could even shift into the big chainring a break of two guys were up the road. That made for a boring first half of the race, but gave us a chance to take in some of the beautiful sights of Tipperary County. We also got to see how terrible the driving skills of the race officials are here. One car made it up to the front of the field at one point and then was forced into the ditch by the riders coming over, breaking at least one of its axels and almost rolling over into us. Thankfully it didn’t. Yesterday, it was two motos taking each other into a ditch. One of the drivers was sent over his handlebars into the mud! Exactly where he belongs for driving like that. I’m just not sure why drivers at bike races think the laws of physics do not apply.
Eventually, we got down to business once we passed over the last climb. It was obvious today would play out in a field sprint. Something we would be very happy with, since we have the fastest guy in the world with us. Long story short, we did what we know how to do best and brougt Cav to the line first. Another win in another stage race, its been an amazing year.
Everyone is saying tomorrow we will be dealing with some horrible weather. Its already cold enough with the sun is shining, so I can’t imagine what it would be like in the rain. If its anything like they say, it might be better for us to go by boat to Cork!
